In order to improve the operation accuracy and efficiency of construction machinery, and in order to make the operators timely understand the posture of the equipment, to avoid the safety accidents caused by excessive tilt and other bad posture, most construction machinery began to carry out intelligent transformation through the installation of IMU.

The rolling, pitch and yaw angle of construction machinery can be measured by IMU. For example, for a crane, the attitude change of the crane during work is crucial. The IMU is installed in a key part of the crane to obtain its attitude information in real time. When the crane arm is tilted, the accelerometer and gyroscope in the IMU will detect the corresponding acceleration and angular velocity changes, and the accurate attitude angle of the crane arm can be calculated through the built-in algorithm.

During the driving and operation of the bulldozers, loader and other construction machinery, the IMU can provide the movement state information of the vehicle. Taking the loader as an example, the IMU measures the acceleration and angular speed of the loader during driving and shoveling, and transmits this data to the vehicles control system. The control system uses this information, combined with the dynamic model of the vehicle, to accurately control the steering, acceleration and braking operations of the vehicle.
